Patches

Are there patches for hockey tournaments?

Yes. HEDi produces tournament and event patches, including the 2026 World Junior Championships Minnesota collector's patch and the Minnesota State High School Tournament patch, alongside its officially licensed NHL® team range.

About HEDiGEAR

Are your team and college patches official?

NHL team patches in the Licensed NHL Hook-and-Loop Patches collection are officially licensed NHL products. Where a patch is officially licensed, its product page says so.

Patches

Can a patch still be removed after adding hook-and-loop?

Yes. Once the hook-and-loop piece is attached, the patch behaves like any HEDi hook-and-loop patch: it presses onto a loop panel and lifts off again by hand, so it can be moved between bags.

Loop Panels and Patches Fit

Can I add more Loop Panel area to my pack?

Every HEDi-PACK already comes with Loop Panels on the front and sides, and any standard hook-and-loop patch will attach to them.

Orders and Payment

Can I buy a HEDi-PACK as a gift?

Yes. A HEDi-PACK makes a meaningful gift for a graduation, a milestone, a team or anyone building their story. Add patches that match the moment. We do not offer gift wrapping or gift receipts. We do offer gift cards.

Returns and Refunds

Can I cancel or change my order?

Contact us as soon as possible after ordering. We move quickly to get orders out, so we cannot promise a change once an order is being prepared, but we will always try. For custom and personalized items, changes may not be possible once production starts.

Patches

Can I design a custom patch or name tape?

Yes. We make custom patches and name tapes for a last name, a jersey number, a date or a design that means something to you. See the Name Tape product pages for current options. Because a custom item is made just for you, it is final sale.

Returns and Refunds

Can I exchange instead of returning?

In many cases, yes. Email customerservice@hedigear.com with your order number and what you would like instead, and we will help you sort it out.

Can I return a custom or personalized item?

No. Personalized and custom items, including custom patches and name tapes, cannot be returned. They are made just for you, so all sales are final. If something arrives wrong or damaged, contact us at customerservice@hedigear.com and we will make it right.

Can I return patches?

Ready made patches in unused condition can be returned within our return window. Custom patches and name tapes are final sale, since they are made just for you.

Loop Panels and Patches Fit

Can I use patches from other brands?

Yes. Any standard hook-and-loop patch attaches to a HEDi-PACK Loop Panel. Sew-on and iron-on patches do not attach to a Loop Panel unless a hook-and-loop piece is added to the back.

Patches

Can school patches be removed and moved to a different bag?

Yes. HEDi school patches use hook-and-loop backing, so they press on and lift off by hand and can be moved between any HEDi-PACK backpacks and bags.

Team and Custom Orders

Can we put our logo on the pack?

Yes. We create custom patches so your team, company, or event can wear its own logo or design on the Loop Panels. It is gear your people will actually want to carry.

Patches

Can you swap sports patches between seasons?

Yes. HEDi sports patches use hook-and-loop backing, so a patch presses on and lifts off by hand. A pack can carry a different team or a new tournament each season without any permanent change.

The HEDi-PACK

Do patches come with the backpack?

Patches are sold separately. Your HEDi-PACK arrives with Loop Panels ready to hold them, so you can start with the moments that matter most and add more over time.

Team and Custom Orders

Do you do team, corporate or bulk orders?

Yes. We build custom HEDi-PACKs for teams, companies, events and organizations, and can add your logo or a custom patch made for your group. For orders over 100 units you get direct access to Bret Hedican throughout the process. Email sales@hedigear.com.

Orders and Payment

Do you have a physical store?

We are an online shop at hedigear.com. That keeps us close to the people building their packs, wherever they are.

Care and Guarantee

Do you offer a warranty? What if my pack breaks?

We stand behind the quality of every HEDi-PACK and patch we produce. If your order arrives with a manufacturing defect, contact us with a photo and we will make it right.

Orders and Payment

Do you offer any discounts?

Join our email list to hear about new patches and offers first.

Shipping

Do you ship to PO Boxes?

Not at this time. Please use a street address at checkout so your pack arrives without delay.

Patches

Does HEDi make school patches?

Yes. We make patches for universities, colleges and high schools. School patches use hook-and-loop backing and move between any HEDi-PACK bags.

The HEDi-PACK

Does a HEDi-PACK fit a laptop?

Base Camp has a laptop sleeve in the main compartment that fits up to a 15-inch laptop. Explorer has a padded computer sleeve with a hook-and-loop retention strap. Summit has a fleece-lined computer pocket. Voyager has a laptop sleeve inside the main compartment and a separate iPad sleeve in front of it. Trail Blazer, Traveler and Troubadour do not have a dedicated laptop compartment.

How big is each HEDi-PACK and how much does it hold?

Capacity and size by model. Traveler: 8L, 14.6 x 7.1 x 4.7 in. Base Camp: 17L, 16.73 x 11.41 x 5.31 in. Troubadour: 24.4 x 11 x 4 in, cut for a soprano ukulele. Summit: 23L, 18.1 x 12.2 x 6.3 in. Trail Blazer: 24L, 17.7 x 12.6 x 6.7 in. Voyager: 26L, 19.69 x 12.99 x 6.10 in. Explorer: 34L, 17.32 x 12.99 x 9.06 in, the largest backpack in the range.

Patches

How do I care for my patches?

Take your patches off before you clean your pack. Brush the backing now and then to keep it free of lint. If a patch needs a wash, hand wash it gently and let it air dry flat before you put it back on. Skip the washing machine for the patches themselves, since the machine packs the backing with lint and can wear it down. Stored flat, your patches will keep their color and shape for years.

Care and Guarantee

How do I clean my HEDi-PACK?

Remove your patches first. Spot clean the pack with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air dry. Avoid bleach, high heat, and the dryer, which can wear down the fabric and the Loop Panels.

Orders and Payment

How do I contact you?

Email customerservice@hedigear.com and we will get back to you. We read every message and try to reply quickly.

Returns and Refunds

How do I start a return?

Email customerservice@hedigear.com with your order number and we will walk you through it. We keep it simple.

Patches

How do national park patches attach to a backpack?

HEDi national park patches have hook-and-loop backing and press onto the loop panel of any HEDi-PACK by hand. They lift off and reposition without heat, glue or stitching, so the arrangement is never final.

Loop Panels and Patches Fit

How do the patches stay on? What is a Loop Panel?

Every HEDi-PACK has built-in Loop Panels. These are soft fabric areas made for hook-and-loop patches. Each patch has a gripping backing. Press it onto a Loop Panel and it holds. Peel it off to swap in another. It is your pack, your patches, your call.

Patches

How do travel patches attach to a backpack?

HEDi travel patches have hook-and-loop backing that presses directly onto the loop panels of any HEDi-PACK. No sewing, iron or glue is needed, and patches can be repositioned at any time.

How do I add hook-and-loop to a patch that does not have it?

Use a HEDi adhesive hook-and-loop piece. Trace the patch on the white paper backing, cut 2 millimeters inside the traced line so the hook stays hidden, peel and apply to the back of the patch. It then presses onto any HEDi-PACK Loop Panel and lifts off by hand. Pieces are sold as a single 5 x 5 inch square and in multi-piece packs. See the hook-and-loop product pages for current options and prices. A patch with an added piece can still be moved between bags.

Team and Custom Orders

How does the custom order process work?

Tell us about your group, your timeline, and what you have in mind. We help you choose a pack, design custom patches or name tapes, and confirm the details before we produce. Then we handle the rest.

The HEDi-PACK

How does the patch system work?

Each hook-and-loop patch has a gripping hook backing. Press it onto a Loop Panel and it holds. Peel it off when you want to change things. No sewing, no glue, no heat. Some older patch styles ship without a hook backing. Add a HEDi adhesive hook-and-loop piece to the back and they work like any other patch.

Shipping

How long until my order ships and arrives?

Orders usually arrive within 3 to 7 business days anywhere in the lower 48 states. Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada can take longer. We do not ship on weekends, so an order placed on Friday goes out no earlier than the following Tuesday.

Care and Guarantee

How long will the Loop Panels last?

The Loop Panels are built to keep their grip through 500 or more attach and detach cycles, so you can rearrange your patches for years. Keeping the panels and patch backings free of lint keeps the grip strong.

Patches

How many national park patches does HEDi make?

HEDi's national park collection covers 70 US national parks and monuments, including Acadia, Arches, Badlands, Pipestone National Monument, Yellowstone and Zion.

How many patches fit on a pack?

That is up to you. The Loop Panels on the front and sides give you room to start with one patch and keep adding. Some people keep it simple with a few. Others fill every panel over the years.

Loop Panels and Patches Fit

How many times can I move a patch?

Loop Panels are built so you can rearrange patches as your collection grows. Start with one patch and move it as often as you like.

Patches

How many travel patches does HEDi sell?

The travel collection holds 184 patches covering cities, countries and destinations worldwide, alongside a collection of 100 destination patches and a collection of 125 world patches. They press onto any HEDi-PACK Loop Panel.

Shipping

How much is shipping?

Qualifying US orders ship free. Free shipping does not apply to international orders. For all other orders, shipping is calculated at checkout from your address and the weight of your order.

The HEDi-PACK

Is a HEDi-PACK water resistant?

The HEDi Fanny Pack shell is water-repellent, which sheds light rain and spills. It is not waterproof and should not be submerged. We do not publish a water resistance rating for the other HEDi-PACK bags, so do not count on them being waterproof.

Which HEDi-PACK is best for travel, and is it carry-on size?

Voyager is the travel-specific backpack. It has a trolley sleeve that slides over a rolling suitcase handle, a laptop sleeve and an iPad sleeve. Trail Blazer also has a trolley sleeve. Traveler is the 8-liter sling for camera gear. Voyager measures 19.69 x 12.99 x 6.10 inches, which falls inside the personal item and carry-on allowances of most major US airlines, but every airline sets its own limits, so check yours before you fly. Explorer is the largest backpack and suits carry-on travel.

Loop Panels and Patches Fit

My patch is not gripping well. What do I do?

Almost always, this is lint. Over time the backing on a patch and the loop fabric on your pack pick up fuzz, hair, and dust, and that weakens the grip. Here is the fix:

1. Take the patch off.

2. Use a fine tooth comb or a stiff brush to gently clear the backing of the patch.

3. Do the same across the Loop Panel.

4. If either side got damp, let it dry fully.

5. Press the patch back on. The grip should return.

Shipping

My tracking says delivered, but I do not have it.

First, check with anyone at your address and look around porches, mailboxes, and side doors, since carriers sometimes mark a package delivered a little early. If it still has not turned up after a day, contact us and we will help you track it down.

Patches

What are HEDi hook-and-loop pieces used for?

They bring a patch that has no hook-and-loop backing into the HEDi-PACK system, so it can be attached, moved and swapped like any other HEDi patch. They are sold individually and in 5-packs.

Shipping

Why did my name tape ship separately?

Name tapes are made and shipped on their own, so they may arrive apart from the rest of your order. Nothing is wrong. Your pack and patches are still on the way.

Will I get a tracking number?

Yes. Once your order ships, we email you a tracking number so you can follow it to your door.

Loop Panels and Patches Fit

Will my patches fall off?

No, not with normal daily carry. The grip is strong enough to hold through commutes, travel, and everyday use. If a patch ever starts to loosen, it usually means the backing or the panel has collected lint. A quick cleaning brings the grip right back. See the grip answer below.
